The influence of a response format test accommodation for college students with and without disabilities

Standardised and other multiple-choice examinations often require the use of an answer sheet with fill-in bubbles (i.e. ‘bubble’ or Scantron sheet). Students with disabilities causing impairments in attention, learning and/or visual-motor skill may have difficulties with multiple-choice examinations that employ such a response style. Such students may request and receive testing accommodations that intend to mitigate these impairments, such as circling responses in a test booklet, which contains both the questions and corresponding multiple-choice answers. The current study evaluated this test accommodation as compared to using a bubble sheet or Scantron on a multiple-choice vocabulary test. College students with (n = 25) and without (n = 76) disabilities completed a vocabulary test under both booklet (accommodated) and bubble sheet (standard) conditions. Results demonstrated that answering in a test booklet, a much preferred response mode, allowed students to attempt significantly more items than using a bubble sheet, improving their overall test scores. Booklet responding tends to improve overall performance, even for students without disabilities, calling into question the specificity and validity of this accommodation.  相似文献

本文针对数学教学的实际特点, 分别从成就动机、认识兴趣、学习毅力和注意稳定性四个方面研究了数学教学中非智力因素培养的各种切实可行的方法与途径。以惠州学院数学系数学教学为例本文进行了实证研究, 包括学生非智力因素状况调查与培养途径有效性检验。结果表明, 目前学生非智力因素状况总体良好, 却存在诸多问题; 学习兴趣对数学成绩的影响极其显著, 而注意稳定性和意志力对数学成绩直接影响不显著。  相似文献

Effects of applying a VR-based two-tier test strategy to promote elementary students’ learning performance in a Geology class

Science and technology are driving people’s life changes, including education and the environment. Many scholars have attempted to import technology into the classroom to help students learn in different subjects. However, students often need assistance with unfamiliar learning approaches and learning environments. This study proposed a non-immersive virtual reality (VR) guidance system combined with a two-tier strategy to help students learn geology knowledge. Two groups of students used different learning approaches: the experimental group students were guided by the two-tier test VR guidance system, and the control group students learned with the conventional VR guidance system. According to the experimental result, the two-tier test VR guidance system not only improved the students’ learning achievement in natural science, but also enhanced their learning motivation. In addition, according to the sequential results, we found that VR learning materials or environmental resources can help students answer questions and solve problems more effectively.  相似文献

旋转对乒乓球运动状态的影响

乒乓球的旋转种类很多,不同的旋转其运动状态不同,掌握旋转对乒乓球运动状态影响的规律,对提高乒乓球技术教学的效果和运动员实战能力的提高有着积极的促进作用.本文以上旋球和下旋球为例,对乒乓球旋转球的空中飞行的运动状态、接触台面后的运动状态及平挡触拍后的运动状态几个方面进行分析对比.结果表明:旋转球在空中飞行时,上旋球飞行弧线的弯曲度增大,边飞行边"下潜",下旋球飞行弧线的弯曲度减小,边飞行边"上浮";上旋球触台后的前冲速度加快,飞行方向为继续"下潜",下旋球触台后的前冲速度减慢,飞行方向为继续"上浮";平挡触拍后,上旋球向前上方反弹,下旋球向前下方反弹.  相似文献

Based on the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) criteria,105 pullout specimens were tested to investigate the effect of different rib geometries on bond strength of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) rebars embedded in concrete. Two kinds of conventional reinforcing rebars were also studied for comparison. Each rebar was embedded in a 150 mm concrete cube,with the embedded length being four times the rebar diameter. The experimental parameters were the rebar type,rebar component,rebar diameter,rebar surface texture,rib height,rib spacing and rib width. Theoretical analysis was also carried out to explain the experimental phenomena and results. The experimental and theoretical results indicated that the bond strength of GFRP rebars was about 13%～35% lower than that of steel rebars. The bond strength and bond-slip behavior of the specially machined rebars varied with the rebar type,rebar diameter,rebar surface texture,rib height,rib spacing and rib width. Using the results,design recom-mendations were made concerning optimum rib geometries of GFRP ribbed rebars with superior bond-slip characteristics,which concluded that the optimal rib spacing of ribbed rebars is the same as the rebar diameter,and that the optimal rib height is 6% of the rebar diameter.  相似文献
